SYC Youth Ambassador Duty Schedule

Established on 7 April 2001, SYC aspires contribute to the development of young Singaporeans by offering opportunities to reflect the forefront of the youth culture with an eye on changing trends and human issues. It aims to broaden and deepen life perspectives of young hearts to inspire them to live a value-creative life, not just for themselves but also for others.

It houses good resources for the nourishment of the mind; its doors are open to performances of all forms for the manifestations and discovery of potentials, fourms and presentations to stimulate the psyche; its people awaiting vibrant dialogues and exchanges in the learning process to build life's foundation. 

At its opening ceremony, SSA General Director Ong Bon Chai voiced his hope that the centre would become the dynamo of the kosen-rufu movement in Singapore and that it would also be “a home where many capable people would emerge and be fostered”.

SGI President Ikeda in his congratulatory message also says, “It is the youthful passion, and the vibrant power overflowing with boundless potential, that will set the lofty movement to transform the 21st century into a “Century of Life and Humanism”, into a steadfast and progressive momentum.  I am looking forward with great expectations that the great current for the SGI’s movement towards global peace be generated from this Youth Centre.”

Since then, this bright and cheery home is put in the care of the youth division.  Nightly and on weekends, youth ambassadors took turns and initiatives to manage the centre which has over time come to be bustling with activities.  Not a few also took the opportunity to bring friends and new members to the centre on the day of their duties, to carry out dialogues and share youthful aspirations and dreams.
