In 2005, the SSA Student Division marked the significant occasion of its “21st birthday” by holding the 1st SSA Student Conference. Then in 2006, the event was retitled the SSA Student Peace Lecture. It seeks to provide a platform to promote greater understanding of the purpose of education, especially in the context of complex societal changes and challenges. It also aims at promoting a greater awareness of the importance of education in bring forth students' potential and in inspiring inner-motivated autonomy for youths to lead a more meaningful and fulfilling lives, and be of service to society.
