about ssa youth division

The Youth Division of the Singapore Soka Association seeks to provide platforms for youths, regardless of race and religion, to engage in activities and services that foster leadership, responsibility and service to community. The Division, with some 7,000 members, bases its core values on the Buddhist principle of respect for the dignity of life, and value-creative living, the key teaching of the Buddhist organization.

Some major events by SSA youths are the Project H2O Youth Peace Carnival (2001), "Before It Is Too Late" environmental protection exhibition (1997), Riding the Rapids youth expedition projects (2002-2004) and mass display performances at National Day Parade.

The Division consists of the Young Men Division, Young Women Division, Student Division (tertiary and pre-university institution students), Future Division (secondary school students) and Primary Division.

In July 2005, the Division was conferred the Singapore Youth Award (Team) for Community and Youth Services.

In 2007, SSA celebrates its 40th Anniversarty. SSA Youth Division too embarks onto another fresh new journey of development and growth to contribute to the peace and happiness of our society and its people. To find out more about us, please pop in to our centres or write to ssaorg@singnet.com.sg.
